Current Music: gunfire from winchester '73 on AMC
An interesting article from the LA Times Blog...

So you think performing in front of Simon Cowell sounds like a stress fest?

Well, you’re right. That’s just about the worst. But opening in “Dreamgirls” in front of an audience that included the three original Dreamgirls – Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Loretta Devine – runs a close second. (Though they’re a wee bit nicer.)

“Tonight was really scary,” “American Idol” alum Syesha Mercado said after “Dreamgirls” opened Tuesday night at the Ahmanson Theatre. Season 7's second runner-up had just arrived at the after-party at downtown L.A.’s J Restaurant and Lounge shortly before the divalicious hour of 1 a.m.

“I’m having a little trouble breathing,” she said. “I was backstage hyperventilating, so during the second act, they had to bring an oxygen tank backstage. It was amazing just to get through tonight. With everybody who was out there, it was very nerve-wracking.”

From AINow.org

Season seven "American Idol" finalist Syesha Mercado is taking on the role of Deena Jones in the new "Dreamgirls" production. "Dreamgirls" is playing at the Apollo Theater in New York City until December 12th, when the national tour gets underway!

Back in October we had the chance to have a question and answer session with Syesha. But somehow the interview managed to get misplaced. So here is our delayed, yet still relevant, Q&A with Syesha!

Let's talk about the "Dreamgirls" production:

How did you get the role?

The Dreamgirls story has always been one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to earn the role as Deena after a year-long audition. It was a rigorous process, but the end result has been great.

There are some pretty interesting articles of Syesha's that are a worthy read. One is of USA Today's interview with her and that can be checked out here. The other article is from The Tyra Banks Show's online e-zine and that can be read here.

Also for those of you who missed Syesha at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade last month, be sure to check out her performance with her fellow Dreamgirls! ♥

I made another AI7 music video - I actually started this back in April/May and got around to finishing it now...because life had issues with itself and held me back, lol. I was going to upload it on YouTube but they denied the video as per the ID tags as did Imeem with their new rules (so as of now, there is no Forever Young music video out there of the AI7ers).

So, as a sort of homage to my love of dance and my love of the AI7 and their love of dance and love for one another...heheheh...without further ramblings, JUST DANCE!

Enjoy! :)
